Durham County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard

This photograph shows the Durham County Honor Guard leading a Christmas parade. The Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard is a ceremonial unit of 18 highly trained members, consisting of sworn and non-sworn members of the Sheriff’s Office. The unit provides military honors to the families of deceased employees, including active and retired full-time or reserve deputies, as well as non-sworn members of the Durham County Sheriff’s Office. The Honor Guard also provides ceremonial services at special events, memorial services, and parades, and builds unity among Durham’s public services by working in conjunction with the fire department and police department at memorial ceremonies, funerals, and other events.
