David Saacks, Assistant District Attorney, 1992-2008
In September 2007 Governor Mike Easley appointed assistant district attorney David Saacks to replace district attorney Mike Nifong, who lost his law license due to misconduct in the Duke lacrosse sexual assault case. Saacks served in this position until January 2009, when newly elected district attorney Tracey Cline took office. Saacks, who had been a Durham assistant district attorney since 1992, left his position in 2010 to take a job in the Wake County District Attorney’s Office and was replaced by Jim Dornfried.
